Contract signed for Mayo swimming pool's works

A member of Mayo County Council has today welcomed the signing of the contract for necessary works to the Claremorris Swimming Pool.

The contract is in two phases - phase 1 is for the removal of the existing tiles and phase 2 is for the re-tiling of the pool.

The duration of the contract is three months with one month post contract facilitation works.

The value of the contract is over €650,000 with the appointment of a specialist tiling contractor.

Stated Councillor Tom Connolly: “I am delighted that this contract has now been signed.

"The swimming pool in Claremorris is a popular amenity and the people of Claremorris want to see this facility available again.

“I am pleased to note that works will begin immediately in respect of phase one.

"I would like to compliment the Claremorris Pool Committee for their commitment and assistance in bringing this project to contract signing stage."
