Issue of sewage going into Clew Bay aired on Ear to the Ground
THE issue of raw sewage being pumped into Clew Bay will get an airing on RTÉ this evening (Thursday).
The matter was raised by local Councillor John O'Malley at a municipal district meeting this week who said the issue is ongoing since 1966.
Irish Water have said a treatment plant will be in place by 2025, but the councillor is concerned it won't be delivered by that date.
A site, he said, was supposed to be set up but now Irish Water are having to go back and CPO more land, he explained.
'Determined' to see action, Councillor O'Malley told his colleagues the matter will get an airing on Ear to the Ground (Thursday, RTÉ One, at 7 p.m., with a repeat on Sunday at 1.10 p.m.).
Also on this evening's programme, while in the Clew Bay area, Ella McSweeney will hear how farmers in the catchment are being encouraged to use alternative methods to pesticides to control weeds, protecting drinking water.
