Mayo native impresses at PDC Q-School

Roundfort native Conor Heneghan will look to build on an impressive showing on his first appearance at the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) Qualifying School.

‘Q-School’ is where dart players go to qualify for the most lucrative tour in the sport. Over 650 players attended schools in England and in Europe, and there were 32 cards handed out between the European and English schools.

In the first phase, Conor qualified automatically for the final stage on the first day as he finished within the top eight out of 300 players.

The remaining 128 players in the UK battled it out to secure 17 cards, while other 15 cards were given out at the European Q-School.

Heneghan picked up two points from the opening three days of the final stage and needed a strong run on the final day to secure a Tour Card, but he saw his hopes dashed after losing to American Leonard Gates in a last-leg shootout in the last 64.

Heneghan overall finished 36th in Q-School Order of Merit. He can certainly be proud of his efforts on his debut showing.
