Mayo hike organised in support of Charlie Bird's charity event

Two Castlebar friends, who are used to cycling together every weekend, are swapping the saddles for the heights of Croagh Moyle in Glenisland, just outside Castlebar, better known as the ‘Booster Station’, on Saturday, April 2, to support Charlie Bird’s, ‘Climb for Charlie’.

Well-known news reporter, Charlie Bird, will climb Croagh Patrick on that day to raise money for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House.

He hopes to inspire thousands of Irish people to climb Croagh Patrick and other peaks around the country.

It is with this in mind that Cathy Carney and Ger Deere are undertaking climbing the Booster Station at the same time as everyone around Ireland will challenge their own peaks to support Charlie.

The distance from the road to the top of Booster Station is approximately the same distance as the climb at Croagh Patrick, so the organisers feel it will be symbolically walking step by step with Charlie.

Cathy and Ger are inviting you to join them at Croagh Moyle at 9.30am and they hope to raise funds that will go to support Charlie’s charity.

If you’d like to join this simultaneous climb, give Ger a ring on ‭(087) 772 4419‬ and let him know you are coming.

It will be a great day in Ireland and a great day for the charities, so make sure wherever you do it, you Climb With Charlie.
