New judge appointed to Circuit Court in Mayo

A NEW judge has been appointed to the Western Circuit of the Circuit Court.

Judge Brian O'Callaghan is presiding over his first sittings in Mayo this week at Castlebar Circuit Criminal Court.

The government, at a meeting on Tuesday, assigned Judge O'Callaghan to the Western Circuit with immediate effect.

The circuit covers counties Mayo and Galway.
