Tributes to popular Castlebar man, Jimmy Keane, on his passing

Tributes have been paid to Jimmy (James) Keane, Station Road, Castlebar, whose death has taken place at Galway University Hospital after a short illness.

Widely known throughout the county for his many years working as a bread and confectionery salesman, his passing has evoked an immense sense of loss in the community.

Many warm tributes have been paid to him on the condolences pages of the death notices websites of Midwest Radio and RIP.ie.

One stated: "Jimmy was a diamond, kind, caring and welcoming."

Commenting on his immense sense of humour, the tribute added: "He will always be remembered with a smile."

Other referred to his love of cycling and the fact he was a great character and a true gentleman.

Castlebar Mitchels GAA Club also paid a special tribute to the deceased.

Predeceased by his parents Tom and Irene, he is deeply regretted by his loving wife Nora, sons Brian, Owen, Jason, Colman, brothers, Owen and Tommy, daughters-in-law Bernie, Catherine, Jackie and Caroline, adored grandchildren Sophie, Marissa, Clodagh, Jackson, Taylor, Zoe and Zara, sisters-in-law Marie and Bridie, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Remains reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home on Sunday morning at 11.30 a.m with removal at 1.30 p.m. for Requiem Mass at 2 p.m. in the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Interment takes place afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
