Mayo suffer Tommy Conroy injury blow

Mayo attacking star Tommy Conroy has suffered a serious leg injury.

He did so while assisting NUI Galway in their Sigerson Cup quarterfinal victory over Letterkenny IT earlier tonight thanks to a late goal by Tomo Culhane at Dangan Sports Campus, Galway.

The Neale ace, who lined out at full-forward, picked up the injury shortly before the interval and had to be carried off the field.

The early indications were that is a pretty serious injury, but this will not be determined until further medical examinations.

The news also comes as a blow to Mayo manager James Horan ahead of next weekend's National League clash against Monaghan at Clones as Conroy, who was one of the three players nominated for the 2021 Young Footballer of the Year Award, is regarded as one of the most exciting footballers in the country.
