Mayo Football League announces divisional lineups for 2022
By Stuart Tynan
THE four divisions for the upcoming 2022 Mayo Football League have been unveiled.
There are 10 teams in the Elverys Sports Super League and CastleCourt Hotel Premier League, with nine each in Killeen Sports Ground League One and McDonnell Construction League Two.
Due to a number of B and C teams from clubs not registering a side, there will be no League Three in 2022.
Both the Super League and Premier League will return to its original league format, with the previous two seasons seeing the leagues split into two groups of five at the halfway stage.
There will be one high profile absentee in the Mayo League this year as Premier League side Iorras Aontaithe (Erris United) have not registered a team for the upcoming season.
Iorras were Super League champions in 2003 as well as winners of the Premier Division in 2017. It a huge blow for the sport in north Mayo and it now means Kilmore, who play in League One, are the only club playing junior football this season from Erris.
The 2022 will commence on Sunday, March 13.
