Death of Ballyheane's Richie Sweeney is deeply regretted in the community

The death has taken place of Richard (Richie) Sweeney, Carrowclogher, Ballyheane, Castlebar.

He died suddenly yesterday at Mayo University Hospital.

The news has evoked a great sense of loss and sorrow in the west Mayo village.

A popular and respected personality, the deceased was widely known in Mayo business circles and was a member of Castlebar Men's Shed.

He was the founder of Richie Meats Limited and was proprietor of a grocery shop in Ballyheane for many years.

Richie also ran a courier service for some time.

Predeceased by his loving wife Anne, his parents Dick and Una, daughter Sandra and brother Sean, he is deeply regretted by his son Richard, daughters Deborah and Catherine and their mother Kay, brother Seamus, sisters Alacoque (Joyce) and Marie ( Kenny), sons-in-law John and Cian, Richard jnr. and partner Deirdre, grandchildren Milo and Cody, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their immense loss.

Remains reposing at Ballyheane Community Centre on Saturday morning from 12 noon with removal at 1.45 p.m. for Requiem Mass at 2 p.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Ballyheane.

Interment takes place afterwards in Ballyheane Cemetery.
