Mayo communities mourn passing of Terry Gallagher
The death has occurred of Terry Gallagher, Coolcran, Crossmolina Road, Ballina and formerly of Currane, Achill.
He died peacefully at home earlier today surrounded by his loving family.
A member of a widely known and respected Achill family, the deceased played a major role for many years in campaigning for better farming and rural facilities throughout Mayo.
He served with distinction on the former Mayo Committee of Agriculture and was held in very high regard for his commitment and vision.
Terry was a brother of former Mayo TD and government minister, the late Denis Gallagher.
Predeceased by his wife Mary (McMyler), he is deeply mourned and sadly missed by his family Seán (Philadelphia), Brendan (London), Mary (Eccleshall) and Finnola (Knockfree), sister Sr. Kathleen MMM (Drogheda), daughters-in-law Theresa and Caroline, son-in-law Willie, his beloved grandchildren Mary, Sarah, John, Alanagh, Terry, Anne, Fiachra, Catherine, Liam and Patrick, nephews, nieces, cousins and the extended Gallagher and McMyler families, neighbours and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Remains reposing at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina, on Friday evening from 5.30 until 7 p.m.
Requiem Mass takes on Saturday at 12 noon in The Church of Our Lady Queen of the Universe, Currane, followed by burial in Kilgeever Cemetery, Louisburgh (at approximately 3 p.m.)
