Castlebar Celtic last Mayo team standing in Connaught Cup

CASTLEBAR Celtic are the only club from Mayo left in the TP Brennan Connaught Cup following Round 5 action last weekend.

The Hoops enjoyed another good trip to Galway as they took down Maree/Oranmore on a scoreline of 5-1 to advance to the quarterfinals in a quality encounter.

Jordan Loftus headed home Mark Howley's corner kick to give the visitors the lead but Maree/Oranmore equalised shortly before half-time.

Celtic would seal their spot in the last eight with a late flurry as Oran Groarke, Ben Murphy, Basho Hay and Mark Howley all netted.

The other Mayo side in action last weekend, Claremorris, saw their journey in the Connaught Cup came to an end when they suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat away to Colga. Boris Ajang (two), Neil Greaney (two), Mikey Donoghue and Colm McDonagh all scoredfor the Galway side.
