Mayo students receive Trinity College entrance awards

A RECORD number of students from every county in Ireland and 29 countries overseas have been awarded Entrance Exhibition Awards from Trinity College Dublin. Among them were 16 students from Mayo.

The awards go to the students accepted into the first year of a full-time undergraduate degree programme who achieve the highest points among Trinity entrants from their secondary school, above a minimum of 500 CAO points (or equivalent).

The Mayo recipients were: Laoise Brid Geraghty, Scoil An Chroi Naofa, Ava Lambert, Scoil An Chroi Naofa, Aoibheann Crawley, Ballyhaunis Community School, Hana Ueno, St. Louis Community School, Sean Allen, St. Muredach's College, Ella Maria Pidgeon, Scoil Muire agus Padraig, Emma Finnegan, Sancta Maria College, Ide Swanton, Sancta Maria College, Joanne Loftus, Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Eanna Geraghty, Colaiste Ris CBS, Patricia D. Vatz, Scoil Na Maighdine Mhuire, Ava Keane, Ballinrobe Community School, Cathy Heaney, Mount St. Michael Secondary School, Grace Turnbull, St. Joseph's Secondary School, Eoin Moran, Coláiste Gearóid Naofa, and Caoilinn Dorothy Gaughan, St. Joseph's Secondary School.

Of the 2021 entrants to Trinity, 686 students qualified for an award, up from 527 in 2020.

Provost of Trinity, Linda Doyle, said: “We are delighted to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our talented students, especially in a year when their lives and studies were so badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Awardees receive a certificate and a €150 book token.
