Water supply in Castlebar back to normal after burst

The water supply in Castlebar has been fully restored to normal levels after a water-main burst.

Emergency crews from the water section of Mayo County Council and Irish Water were called out in the early hours of this morning to repair the damage at Barrack Bridge in the town.

There had been complaints of lower water pressure levels to a number of local schools and businesses in the vicinity over the past week.

Concerns had been expressed that schools may have been forced to close due to the situation.

But the water-main has now been fully repaired and water pressure is restored to normal levels.
