Mayo fire service tackle gorse blaze

THE Mayo fire service have brought a gorse fire near Foxford under control.

The blaze could be seen from many miles away as it lit up the night sky last night.

It has been alight for a few days.

This morning, local Councillor Neil Cruise paid tribute to local residents and fire crews for their work in tackling the fire.

He said: “Well done to the residents of Churchpark, Corlee, Larganmore and Glanduff, who along with units of Mayo County Council's fire service ensured there was no loss of houses or life due to severe gorse fires last night.”
