East Mayo GAA club’s stand plans approved
SUPPORTERS at Eastern Gaels GAA Club can look forward to some extra comfort when cheering on their teams.
The club is building a new spectator stand at their grounds in Brickens, and their plans have received planning approval from the council.
In their application, club chairperson Seamus Horan explained the importance of the development.
The club is 37 years in existence and is a vital hub for the parish and the communities of Bekan, Brickens, Logboy and Tulrahan.
It plays an important role in nurturing and developing young people, with a membership of around 100, with 50 Under 12s, boys and girls, training every Saturday, with the pitch and grounds used virtually all year round.
“This stand, which is urgently needed, would not only cater for spectators but would also provide shelter for the kids from bad weather during training,” he said.
A local sponsor has committed to funding the development, Mr. Horan added, which was great news for the club.
