National darts glory for Mayo at All-Irelands

Mayo hit the treble in more ways than one as they took home three major titles at the Irish National Darts Organisation (INDO) Intercounties championships last weekend at the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, Co. Meath.

Friday evening saw Mayo’s Conor Heneghan clinch the INDO national singles title, beating Connie Finnan 5-4 in a thrilling final. The pairs event also saw a strong run for Mayo, with the duo of John Patten and John Heneghan reaching the semi-finals.

The ladies clinched the second piece of silverware as they whitewashed Cavan 4-0 in the final to win their first All-Ireland championship since 2002.

Meanwhile, the men held their nerve to win their first All-Ireland since 2013. They beat Cork in a last leg shootout in the semi-finals before beating Kilkenny 7-5 in the final.

Well done to all involved, with a special mention to Margaret Quigley (ladies manager), Stephen Doherty and Jason McGann (men’s managers), Tony Flynn (Flynn’s bar, men’s sponsor) and Declan Kilkelly (Hogs Heaven Bar, ladies sponsor).
