Foxford loses a great community man
The community of Foxford is mourning the passing of Thomas P. Joyce (Tommie), Dispensary Road.
He died in the loving care of the staff of Blackrocks Nursing Home, Foxford.
The deceased gave sterling service to the town over many years, most notably the local St. Vincent De Paul Society.
Many warm tributes have been paid to him on the condolences page of the death notices website, RIP.ie.
Fr. Donal Dorr stated: “Deepest sympathy on the death of a friend whom I have known for at least 75 years. Tommy was a generous gentleman who served the Foxford community with all his heart.”
Another tribute said: “He was always so welcoming and friendly. I could have sat listening to him all day. A very knowledgeable and interesting man who always spoke about his love for his family.”
Tommie, son of the late Jennie and Michael Joyce, Providence Road, Foxford, was predeceased by his son Stephen, brothers Walter, Anthony and Very Rev. Canon Michael.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Marie, daughter Maeve, sons Peadar and Brian, his sister Eleanor McGuinness (Ballisodare), sister in-law Phil Joyce (Dublin), grandchildren Sarah, Ronan, Thomas, Emma, Leah, Daniel, Dylan, Darragh, Clodagh, Matthew, great-grandchildren Evalyn and Arthur, nephews, nieces, son-in-law Mick Crehan, daughters-in-law Kathleen, Edel and Angela, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
Burial took place in Craggagh Cemetery earlier today following Requiem Mass in St. Michael's Church, Foxford.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
