Mayo team named for Connacht Under 20 football final

Mayo manager Maurice Sheridan has made two changes to his team for the Connacht GAA Under 20 football championship final against Sligo in Markievicz Park this evening (Wednesday).

Jack Fallon of Mayo Gaels returns to the starting 15 to partner Frank Irwin at midfield after recovering from an injury that kept him out of the semi-final victory over Galway. This allows Mayo senior panellist Donnacha McHugh to move from the middle of the field to centre-back to replace the injured Sam Callinan.

The other change sees Ballina Stephenites' Rory Morrin start for the first time this year in place of Bohola-Moy Davitts' Cian MacHale at corner forward.

Islandeady's Bryan O'Flaherty continues in goal, with Alfie Morrison from Louisburgh, Ruairí Keane from Mayo Gaels and Conal Dawson from Westport all selected again in the full-back line.

Fenton Kelly and Aiden Cosgrove now partner McHugh in the half-back line, while up front, the impressive Tom O'Flaherty, Dylan Thornton and Sean Morahan are named in the half-forward line.

Morrin joins Paddy Heneghan and Cian O'Connell in the full-forward line.

The game this evening has a 6 p.m. start at Markievicz Park, with Roscommon native Paddy Neilan in charge of the whistle. There will be live commentary on Midwest Radio with Michael D. McAndrew and Declan O'Reilly, plus full deferred coverage on TG4.

The Mayo team in full is as follows: Bryan O'Flaherty; Alfie Morrison, Ruairi Keane, Conal Dawson; Fenton Kelly, Donnacha McHugh, Aiden Cosgrove; Frank Irwin, Jack Fallon; Tom O'Flaherty, Dylan Thornton, Sean Morahan; Rory Morrin, Paddy Heneghan, Cian O'Connell.
