€22,000 raised to date as Cycle for Miyah enters home Mayo stretch

A MAYO man is entering the home stretch of a 1,300-kilometre cycle along the west coast in memory of his niece and goddaughter, Miyah Kelly.

Conor Kelly crossed into Mayo yesterday (Thursday) after 13 days on the road in a trek that started in Cork.

His Cycle for Miyah fundraiser is in memory of Miyah Kelly (7), from Culmore, Kilkelly, who passed at Crumlin Hospital last November.

Forever loved and cherished by her parents, Eileen and Donal, brother Fionn and close-knit extended family, Miyah's legacy is one of true goodness, colour, fun, determination, and energy, and she will continue to bring hope and joy to others, said Conor on his fundraising page.

The funds generated through Conor's efforts will support the work of two charities that are close to the hearts of Miyah's family members - Children's Health Ireland, Crumlin (aka Crumlin Children's Hospital) and Aoife's Clown Doctors.

Children's Health Ireland, Crumlin is Ireland's largest children's hospital, treating 150,000 patients from all over Ireland every year. The money raised will help the team their to achieve their goal of providing compassionate loving care for every sick child in Ireland.

Aoife's Clown Doctors are professional actors, trained to entertain vulnerable and sick children on the wards at Crumlin and Temple Street Hospitals. Spreading fun and laughter bed-to-bed, they help relieve stress for children, parents and staff and provide moments of pure joy.

To date, Conor has raised over €22,000 for the charities and you can show your support by donating here: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/11433237_cycle-for-miyah.html.

Conor arrived back into Mayo yesterday, via Delphi, the Doolough Valley, Louisburgh and Croagh Patrick.

Today is the last day on the Wild Atlantic Way, taking to the greenway from Westport to Achill before a quick transfer back to Newport to cycle into Castlebar to finish the day.

It's a straight run for home on Saturday, via Pontoon, Charlestown, Kilmovee, Urlaur and Tooreen, before finishing at the Square in Kilkelly at around 3 p.m.

Please do show your support for Conor along the way, and no doubt there will be a warm, welcoming reception in Kilkelly tomorrow afternoon.
