Mayo team for Tipperary contest is named

Manager Michael Moyles has named the team that will start against Tipperary in round one of the TG4 LGFA All-Ireland senior championship.

The game will throw in at 2 p.m. on Saturday (June 11) in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar.

Mayo's last outing was the Connacht final against Galway, a game they lost by four points (1-12 to 1-8).

The team for Saturday's game shows two changes in personnel from the Galway game along with a few positional switches.

Sorcha McCarney starts in midfield, with Aoife Geraghty moving from the middle to the half-forward line, while Tara Needham is named at full-forward. The players to miss out are Ciara Whyte and Tamara O'Connor.

The Mayo team in full is: A. Tarpey; É. Ronayne, D. Caldwell, S. Lally; C. Needham, F. McHale, K. Sullivan; S. Cafferky, S. McCarney; A. Geraghty, S. Walsh, S. Mulvihill; L. Cafferky, T. Needham, S. Howley.

Following Saturday's game against Tipperary, Mayo face Cavan in Glennon Park, Longford, a week later in the second round of the group stages.

The last group game will be against current National League and Leinster champions, Dublin, a match that will be played in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise, on Saturday, June 25.

The top two teams in the group will qualify for the All-Ireland quarterfinals.
