Parking for coaches needed at Croagh Patrick

COACH parking facilities are needed at Croagh Patrick.

Councillor Christy Hyland has called on Mayo County Council to put in place plans for facilities for the many coaches wishing to visit the area.

Municipal district head Padraig Walsh, at a local area meeting, said currently there is no funding for the project. It is not on the list and is not funded.

When the opportunity arises, talks will take place with land owners to see if there is any possibility to acquire lands.

Councillor Hyland pointed out that good things are happening in Murrisk, with the new water scheme coming to fruition.

On that, he said if any residents were having difficulty in raising the subscription fee, the manager in Westport Credit Union had urged them to talk to them and get assistance.
