Mayo to face Kerry in All-Ireland SFC quarterfinal

Mayo have been drawn to play Kerry in the All-Ireland SFC quarterfinals, to be played over the weekend of June 25/26.

Their most recent meeting resulted in a heavy defeat for Mayo in the Allianz National Football League Division 1 final, so Mayo manager James Horan will be planning for a reversal of that result when they meet in two weeks' time.

Mayo and Kerry will also face off in the All-Ireland MFC semi-final next Saturday week (June 25).

The draws for the senior quarterfinals took place this morning on RTÉ Radio 1 as part of the Morning Ireland show.

It saw the four provincial champions (Galway, Dublin, Kerry and Derry) drawn to play one of the four round two qualifier winners from the weekend (Mayo, Clare, Cork and Armagh).

Kerry had actually been drawn against Cork first but having already faced each other in the Munster championship, they were not permitted to meet again. Cork moved down to the next fixture, with Mayo then drawn to take their place.

Cork will instead meet Dublin, while the other two quarterfinals see Galway face Armagh and Derry take on Clare.

Should Mayo get past Kerry, they will play the winner of the Dublin v Cork clash.

Venues and dates for the quarterfinals will be confirmed later by the CCCC, with matches scheduled to take place across the weekend of June 25/26.
