Crews working to restore water in Achill

CREWS are on site in Achill this afternoon repairing a burst watermain which is impacting on water supply in Derreens, Cloughmore and Currane.

Irish Water and Mayo County Council are working to restore water supply to over 100 properties as quickly as possible.

Repairs are expected to be complete by 10 p.m. tonight.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

Speaking about the repair works, Ger Greally, Irish Water, said: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the community and restore water for all customers.

“We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience.

“The repairs in the Derreens, Cloughmore and Currane area are being conducted as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to the community and restore water for all customers.”
