New state-of-the-art gym opens in east Mayo

A NEW gym in Charlestown has opened to the public.

Healthquarters Plus opened its doors at the CBD Complex at the beginning of July.

The Charlestown branch is the fourth Healthquarters facility - there are already two in Ballaghaderreen (Healthquarters and Healthquarters Leisure Centre) and one in Tubbercurry. The four gyms will employ 16 people in total.

Owner George Fitzgerald said he was delighted to officially launch his newest offering in Charlestown.

He said: “This is the fourth Healthquarters facility to open its doors and it is a dream come true to see it. We now employ 16 staff across the four locations.

“Healthquarters is a gym that aims to make everyone feel comfortable walking through the doors and using the state-of-the-art equipment. Healthquarters Plus in Charlestown will be no different and we look forward to people in the locality trying it for themselves.”

He added: “We had a really successful open day earlier this month, where the support from local businesses and people was overwhelming. We also hosted a bumper circuit class in aid of the Colm Horkan Memorial Pitch Fund, which raised €1,155, and that’s something we are very happy about, as Colm’s legacy lives on in the local community.”

Healthquarters Plus is now fully open and operational and you can see details of classes and all of their offerings on Instagram on Healthquarters Plus or by calling in to see it for yourself.
