A €4m. Ferrari convoy rolls into Mayo
Car enthusiasts in Mayo were in their element today as a convoy of Ferrari cars rolled through the county.
Nottingham-based members of the Ferrari Owners Club of Great Britain, stopped off in Castlebar on their journey from Dublin to Connemara, via Westport.
The eight vehicles attracted a great deal of interest when parked for an hour at Tesco car park in the town.
Paul Pearse, one of the Ferrari owners, told The Connaught Telegraph they arrived in Larne earlier this week following a tour of Scotland before proceeding into Ireland and stopping off in castles along the route to Mayo.
They will be staying in Clifden, Co. Galway, for the next three nights where they will experience the All-Ireland senior football final fever in the county.
He stated: "We chose to visit Ireland this year because it is convenient and we don't have to put too many miles on our cars, as we would have to do by venturing into Europe.
"Why would you not want to come to Ireland?
"We are having a great time here and it's fantastic to see children coming up and looking for photographs.
"We get a great reception everywhere we go. People stand on the side of the road waving and so on. It's wonderful. Ireland is such a friendly country."
