Funding of €12,500 for three Mayo summer events

Funding of €12,500 has been allocated to three summer events taking place in Mayo, Deputy Michael Ring has confirmed.

The recipients are Bofield CCÉ, Ballina Fringe Festival and the Admiral Brown Comhaltas, Foxford.

Bofield CCÉ received €5,000 for an event showcasing the best of Mayo traditional musicians in concert and hosting lessons for beginner musicians.

Ballina Fringe Festival is getting a similar amount for a festival of visual arts, live music, theatre, dance, children’s art and street art.

The Admiral Brown Comhaltas, Foxford, has secured €2,500 for a traditional festival weekend incorporating four workshops.

Stated Deputy Ring: “I am pleased that this Mayo festivals are being supported in this way.

"Small scale local festivals add huge benefit to visitor experiences and to our local communities.

"I hope that these events are a great success and I compliment the organisers."
