Mayo singer to host exciting new global television show

MAYO’S James Kilbane is swapping the stage for the studio this month, as the renowned Christian, Gospel, country and Irish folk singer gets ready for a brand new global debut as host of an exciting new show on the multi-award-winning Shalom World Television Network.

Airing for the first time on Wednesday next, August 17, REWIND with James Kilbane will feature the musical, faith and life journeys of a host of special guests, while also delving into some tough personal journeys, and examining the guests’ relationships with life, music and faith.

The REWIND with James Kilbane weekly series will feature the real life journeys of a stellar line-up of musicians from Ireland, the UK and Europe, with plans already in the pipeline for a much more international guest list.

Initially scheduled for a 12-week run, the series has been generating huge interest and it is likely the show will be extended for at least another 12 episodes. At present, the network has an average viewership of 12 million per month, with 18-35 as the most popular age category.

Launching with a stunning show featuring the music, words and thoughts of Athlone’s Brendan Shine, the 12-part series will get underway on Wednesday at 9.30 p.m. (Irish time). REWIND with James Kilbane can be viewed across the Shalom World Television Networks (Shalom World North America, Shalom World Europe, Shalom World Australia, Shalom World Asia-Africa and SW Prayer) on smart TVs and streaming devices such as Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. It can also be viewed on shalomworld.org.

Each episode concentrates on just one artist, and the series includes a host of big names in the secular world, as well as music artists who are practising the Christian faith and living Gospel values.

Other guests will include Mike Denver, Fr. Ray Kelly, Christian contemporary composers and singers Sr. Marie Dunne and Ian Callanan, Country Gospel composer, singer and producer Colin Elliott, Celtic Christian composer Deirdre Ní Chinnéid who runs a retreat centre on the Aran Islands, Country Gospel singer Warren Smyth, and Northern Irish Country singer Tony Kerr.

The concept for REWIND with James Kilbane was first born a number of years ago, but Covid stopped progress in its tracks, and it is only now that James is getting the opportunity to realise his hosting and presenting dreams. Over the last number of years, Kilbane has worked with Shalom on a number of projects, including in the production of special Christmas episodes for the network, as well as Christmas music and Marian music videos.

Speaking ahead of the airing of the first show, Tina Mary Sajiv, director of programmes at Shalom World, said: “We have been working with James for a number of years and have long shared the common vision of bringing talented music artists together - not just from Catholic spheres but also those who have contributed to the Christian music industry from various denominations, and those who have been living exemplary lives of faith. We are so excited to finally bring this project to fruition, and we are excited to see what the future holds with James, and indeed with REWIND.”

James Kilbane echoed these sentiments: “This has been a long time coming, but we’re all really excited to get the ball rolling on REWIND with James Kilbane. At first, we’re looking towards the first 12 shows, and we’ve some really amazing people in the mix, so I’m also really looking forward to what lies ahead.”
