Repair crews working to fix burst watermain in Ballina

IRISH Water is working with Mayo County Council to restore water as quickly as possible to impacted customers following a large burst to a water main in Ballina in the early hours of this morning.

Whilst every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible through reconfiguring the network, the burst is impacting the water supply to homes and businesses in Ballina and surrounding areas.

The areas impacted are Coonealcauraun, Rathroeen, Culleens, Farranoo, Laghtadawnagh, Kilmoremoy, Abbeycourt, Beleek, Rathmeel, Garonkeel, Quignamanor, Ardoughan, Woodville, Friarscourt, Dernan Grove, Hawthorns, Castlefield Manor, The Olde Mill Stone, Killala Road, Ashbourne Grove, Newlands, Oaklawn, The Quay, Quignalecka, Sligo Road, Creggs Road, The Moorings, Riverside, Riverslade, Moyvale, Bonniconlon, Bofield, Carrownlabaun, Rathreedaun, and Carrowreagh.

Speaking about the repair works, Sean Higgins from Irish Water said: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the community and restore water for all customers.

“However, these repair works are not straightforward, so it may take us longer than normal to restore supply to homes and businesses in the area. We aim to keep everyone as informed as possible as the works progress.

“We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience. The repairs are being conducted as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to the community and restore water for all customers.”
