Historic opening of new co-educational primary school in Mayo

Principal Joe Carty has expressed his delight at the launch of the new Castlebar Primary School.

He said it was an historic occasion for education in the town and he praised everybody involved in bringing the idea to fruition.

Mr. Carty welcomed new pupils, their parents and teachers as the academic year got underway.

It's exciting times as St. Angela’s Girls N.S. and St. Patrick’s Boys NS joined together to form a new co-educational school with campuses at Chapel Street and the Lawn in the town.
