Passing of Castlebar's Rod Tobin is widely mourned

The deceased was a retired member of the National Ambulance Service

The death has taken place of Rod Tobin, Dunbeag, Newport Road, Castlebar.

The news of his passing, unexpectedly at his residence, has evoked a wide sense of loss in the local community.

A retired member of the National Ambulance Service, Rod had previously worked with Murray Ambulance Service, where his late son Sean also worked.

A statement by Murray Ambulance Service on their social media said: "We, the Murray family, are absolutely heartbroken at his passing.

"We pray that your soul has found peace Rod - you will be greatly missed."

Predeceased by his father Dr. Sean Tobin and his beloved son Sean, he is deeply regretted by his mother Maureen, sons Colin and Brian and their mother Noreen, his sister Ailbhe, brothers Michael, John and Derek, brother-in-law Stephen, sisters-in-law Ena, Fidelma and Mary, grandson Freddy, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Remains reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7pm to his sister’s residence in Curry, Castlebar F23 NV15.

Removal on Sunday morning at 11.15 a.m. for Funeral Mass at 12 noon in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Rod will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
