Angry over Mayo's all-ticket policy for club GAA games as fans turned away

by Patrick Hennelly

The Mayo GAA all-ticket policy for the Mayo SFC clash between Westport and The Neale at Cong on Saturday has been criticised by a number of supporters.

The Connaught Telegraph has learned that some supporters, including a couple of American tourists, could not gain entry to the match at Cong as they didn’t realise that tickets had to be purchased in advance.

This newly-introduced all-ticket policy is affecting a variety of age groups.

Trying to scan QR codes is also proving problematic in rural communities where Wi-Fi is at times unreliable - not to mention the fact that some supporters simply don’t have an iPhone or Smartphone device.

Surely there should be a facility where supporters of all ages can purchase tickets on the day of a game?

There is no question the all-ticket policy caused a lot of unnecessary stress for supporters over the weekend.
