ATU Galway-Mayo to host virtual careers fair
ATLANTIC Technological University (ATU) Galway-Mayo will hold its virtual careers fair on Monday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The platform will enable students and graduates to interact with a large number of employers and is a key event in the university’s academic calendar.
Participating companies are across all sectors from accounting, business, financial services, customer service, construction, engineering and science to education, IT, hospitality, agriculture and food industries. Public sector organisations will also be represented.
Employers will have the opportunity to meet students through one-to-one appointments and group meetings. This year, the platform has a new CV drop facility which allows students to express interest in an employer by dropping their CV at the virtual booth prior to meeting them.
Fiona O’Donnell, ATU Galway careers officer, says: “Students and companies have found excellent benefit in online virtual fairs as they get to book one to one appointments with employers prior to the event, allowing students, graduates, and employers to connect better and network. They also get to understand how existing skill sets match industry standards and discuss current job vacancies, and graduate and placement opportunities.”

Comments from companies in attendance last year who hired ATU students included:
“The candidates we met during the event were well prepared, asked good questions, came from relevant degrees and were of very good calibre” - Diana Dimitrova, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
“All students have had great questions prepared and are really engaged” - Evan Cawley, Medtronic.
“I was delighted at the quality of the students” - Wayne Devine, CMS Distribution.
