Shortlist for the 2022 Oireachtas Media Awards announced

The shortlist for the 2022 Oireachtas Media Awards was announced today (Thursday) by An tOireachtas.

The awards celebrate achievement and excellence in the Irish language media sector and are presented annually to recognise and honour outstanding contributions by presenters, producers, journalists, columnists, radio and television programme makers, and others within the sector over the past 12 months.

A total of 13 awards will be presented this year. The winner of the Rising Star Award is determined by public vote and voting lines will open on Thursday next, September 15.

“The scope of the Oireachtas Media Awards has expanded over the past 20 years to reflect achievements within the thriving media sector being celebrated. The Irish language media have tackled the enormous challenges created by the pandemic with grace and aplomb,” said Máirín Nic Dhonnchadha, CEO of An tOireachtas.

“The 2022 shortlist is a clear indication of the immense creativity and high standards achieved within the industry in the past year and I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to the shortlisted nominees. We are looking forward to celebrating in person at the awards ceremony, which will be held during the Oireachtas na Samhna festival in Killarney, Co. Kerry.”
