Mayo club off to Meath as AIG Cups and Shields finals move to Knightsbrook
Eight AIG All-Ireland champions have been crowned over the past two weeks at the AIG Cups and Shields All-Ireland finals in Tramore and PGA Slieve Russell.
The action continues this week at Knightsbrook Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort with the conclusion of the AIG Intermediate Cup, AIG Pierce Purcell Shield and the AIG Men's and Women's Junior Cup.
Among the quarterfinalists are are Castlebar Golf Club in both the AIG Pierce Purcell Shield and the AIG Women's Junior Cup.
Joining Castlebar GC in the AIG Pierce Purcell Shield tomorrow (Thursday) are Lismore, Lisburn, Dooks, Mayobridge, Clontarf, Edmondstown and Abbeyleix. The Mayo club's quarterfinal opponents are Clontarf.
Fota Island, Royal Portrush, Tralee, Clandeboye, Royal Tara, Newlands and Tullamore are Castlebar's rivals in the AIG Women's Junior Cup, which begins on Friday. Royal Tara provide the opposition for Castlebar in the quarterfinal.
Elsewhere, East Cork, Castlerock, Adare Manor, Mannan Castle, Ardee, Galway Bay, Edmondstown and Mount Wolseley will all compete looking to win the AIG Women's Intermediate Cup, which commences tomorrow.
The men's edition, beginning on Saturday, will include Co. Cavan, Castle, Castletroy, Cork, Carrickfergus, Dundalk, Co. Sligo and Mountrath.
Play begins from 8 a.m. tomorrow with the AIG Intermediate Cup and AIG Pierce Purcell Shield quarterfinals, with the finals of each event taking place on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
