Planning sought for 36-house development in east Mayo

A NEW housing development consisting of 36 homes is proposed in Ballyhaunis.

A planning application in respect of the development at Hazelhill, Ballyhaunis, has been submitted to Mayo County Council.

Developer Shay Gillen is seeking to build 36 houses at the location: four four-bed self-build two-storey detached units, 18 three-bed two-storey semi-detached houses, and 14 two-bed two-storey semi-detached houses.

Documentation submitted to planners said the development will contribute to local job creation in its construction and will supply a sustainable mix of units to meet local housing demands. Four units will be available under Part V social and affordable housing.

It was a positive development, they said, with high quality homes in an attractive layout, offering a good social mix of units which will appeal to the majority of the market.
