Four CPOs of derelict buildings in Mayo

FOUR Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO) of derelict sites in Mayo are currently being processed by Mayo County Council.

They relate to three sites in Ballinrobe and one in Castlebar town.

Councillor Peter Flynn requested an update on CPO activity in relation to derelict sites in the county for the period 2015 to 2021.

A written report showed that in that period there were just three CPOs - one in Crossmolina in 2018, one in Charlestown that same year, and another in Kilmaine in 2019.

There are currently 297 sites in Mayo on the derelict sites register. It is intended to add a further 54 properties to that list, while 199 have been removed where works took place to remedy the dereliction.
