Louise Cresham appointed new State Solicitor for Mayo
A new State Solicitor for Mayo, Louise Cresham, has been appointed.
She replaces Vincent Deane who was recently nominated and approved by the government for appointment as a District Court Judge.
Ms. Cresham, a native of Castlebar, has been a practicing solicitor since 2013.
She completed her degree in corporate law in Galway before she attended Blackhall Place and took up apprenticeships in the offices of Mairead Bourke and Vincent Deane.
Ms. Cresham’s predecessor, Vincent Deane, a native of Erris, has served as State Solicitor for Co. Mayo since 2010 having previously been with the Chief Prosecution Solicitors Division at the Office of the DPP.
State Solicitors are solicitors in private practice who are employed on a contract basis to act on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
They support private barristers working for the DPP to present the prosecution case in the Circuit Court in their respective county.
Speaking to the Connaught Telegraph, Ms. Cresham said she is delighted with the appointment and is looking forward to taking up the new role.
