Litter on the roadside leading to Knock airport.

Dashboard litter unsightly on approach road to airport

DASHBOARD litter leading to Ireland West Airport is creating a poor first impression for visitors to the county.

The issue, on the link road between the N17 and the airport, was highlighted by Councillor Ger Deere when he attended a council committee meeting at the facility.

Stressing that it wasn't the fault of the airport authorities, it is a situation that requires attention, he said.

It is all litter thrown from cars and doesn't make for a great first impression.

The litter has become more visible after the council recently cut the grass along the roadside.

The council will have to pay attention to it, he said, adding that it is a societal issue.
