Fresh movement on €200m. 'Gateway to the West' project

A Mayo TD has confirmed that the N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramoge Road project, known as 'The Gateway to the West', is progressing well.

Deputy Michael Ring outlined: “I was pleased to receive confirmation that Roscommon County Council issued tender documents to the three pre-qualified candidates for the design and build contract on July 22, 2022.

"The anticipated tender return date is the December 22.

“It is very welcome news that this project is progressing at this rate.

"This project has an estimated total investment cost of circa €200 million. It received planning approval in May 2019.

“When the works are completed on this section of road, it will be a tremendous asset to the region."
