The late Ann Meehan remembered by hospice friends
THE late Ann Meehan, a powerhouse in the hospice movement in Mayo, has been warmly remembered by her hospice friends and colleagues, who have paid the following tribute to her.
Our beloved Ann Meehan left us on August 28. Ann was our friend, colleague and inspiration. Sometimes we thought she would always be with us, and in a way she will remain a big part of what we do.
Twenty-two years ago Ann had a dream to open a charity shop, and that dream soon came to reality when she was the instigator of opening the first Hospice Shop in Swinford on July 6, 2000. From that little acorn grew a tree with many branches.
We will always remember Ann for her loyalty, kindness, and all round knowledge of fashion, keen sense of humour, and her great interest in people.
Ann was an inspiration to us all, staff and volunteers. She has left us with wonderful memories.
Ann is pictured (centre front) at a reunion of all our volunteers, past and present, over the last 22 years in the Gateway Hotel, Swinford, on July 6 last to celebrate our 22nd anniversary.
