Death of retired Mayo council employee Frank Burke
The death has occurred unexpectedly at his home of Frank Burke, Ballymacragh, Westport Road, Castlebar. He was aged 72.
Frank worked with Castlebar Town Council until his retirement a few years ago. He loved the outdoors, farming and fishing.
He was a great animal lover and his dog Jack was his best friend and constant companion. Frank relaxed listening to MidWest radio and particularly enjoyed the Michael Commons Show.
He was well respected and held in high regard by his former colleagues in the Council and by his neighbours who he was always willing to help. He will be missed in Ballymacragh and beyond.
Predeceased by his parents James and Annie (née Carney), brothers Johnny (Ballymacragh) and Jimmy (UK) and his sister-in-law Mary Kelly, he is sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Kathleen (née Mulchrone, Newport), daughters Caroline and Claire and their partners.
He is also survived by his sister Maureen Bullimore (Liverpool), brothers-in-law John Joe and Paddy Mulchrone, Chris Kelly and Richard Bullimore, sisters-in-law Julie Burke, Christine Burke, Patsy Mulchrone and Ann Mulchrone, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
His remains will be reposing at Kilcoyne's Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, from 6 to 7.30 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday).
Requiem Mass takes place in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Wednesday at 11.30 a.m.
Afterwards Frank will be laid to rest in the Old Cemetery, Castlebar.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
