North Mayo sea wall works progressing well
WORK is progressing well on the new sea wall at Bundoola in north Mayo.
A significant length of the new concrete sea wall has now been cast. Rock armour is on site and has been distributed along the seaward base of the wall, ready for placing in its final position when the casting of the concrete wall is completed.
Councillors Gerry Coyle and Sean Carey both complimented the team involved in the works, for their engagement with the local community and for keeping traffic delays to the minimum.
If not completed, the works will have to stop with the arrival of wintering birds, and Councillor Coyle asked when their arrival date might be.
If that wasn't until the end of October the works could well be completed this year, he commented.
Mayo County Council are seeking to establish the date when those ecological restrictions will kick in.
