Pedestrian/cycle link proposed on approach to Westport
A NEW pedestrian/cycle link from Sheeaune back into Westport has been proposed by a local elected representative.
Councillor Peter Flynn has asked the head of the municipal district to advance an Active Travel application to create a segregated cycle lane/footpath from Sheeaune to Westport to connect with the existing greenway at Knockranny/Carrowbeg.
As part of the process, he also asked the municipal district to seek to reduce the speed limit on this section of road to 60km under the county-wide speed limit review which will commence later this year.
Councillor Flynn brought his idea before the municipal district by way of a notice of motion at the monthly meeting.
