Straide school bus crux set to be resolved

CONFIRMATION has been received by Deputy Alan Dillon that a resolution will soon be in place for families in Straide impacted by the school transport issues.

Approximately 20 post-primary students have been discommoded as a result of the introduction of free school bus transport which caused enormous difficult for families impacted who rely heavy on school transport to get to and from their secondary school of choice.

Deputy Dillon intervened in a personal capacity by providing a private bus service in conjunction with local bus operator Michael Moran to alleviate the stress for these families.

Now, good news has been received in providing a permanent solution with additional bus capacity going to tender in the coming days for concessionary ticket holders.

Said Deputy Dillon: “This situation should never have arisen from day one. I have made several representations to Minister Norma Foley and Bus Éireann on this matter and welcome confirmation that additional capacity on this route will soon go to tender with an improved service on this route to commence as earlier as next week.

“I hope lessons have been learned from this saga and that no community go through this situation again.”
