Residents of west Mayo estate raise road safety concerns

Residents in Ard Caher in Louisburgh want some local safety concerns addressed.

They were brought to council attention by Councillor Johnny O'Malley who said the footpath on the R378 is very narrow and the road has been resurfaced, with no traffic calming or controls.

There is a children's play area nearby, used by residents in the 44-house estate.

People driving by too fast are making it dangerous for children.

He was told the area engineer will look at the situation and see what can be done.
