New documentary chronicles the highs and lows of Connacht Rugby

Relentless: The Connacht Way, a new documentary by Red Bull Media House, chronicles the highs and lows of Connacht Rugby from a player’s perspective.

It is premiering on RTÉ 1 on November 3 at 10.15 p.m. and will be streaming on Red Bull TV from November 10.

Packed with raw, honest and unfiltered access to the team as they undertake a rollercoaster season, culminating with reaching the top 16 of the European Champions Cup the first time ever.

The hour-long documentary follows three Connacht Rugby players – Bundee Aki, Niall Murray and Tom Farrell – all of whom are at pivotal moments in their sporting careers. Viewers will discover the unique perspectives, challenges and motivations of each player, taking a journey with them through their challenging 2021/22 rugby season.

“The Connacht way is to find a way,” the documentary reveals – and then head coach Andy Friend (now director of rugby) alongside his coaching team of Peter Wilkins (then defence coach, now head coach), David Howarth (head of athletic performance), Johnny O’Connor (strength and conditioning) and senior physiotherapist Dave Hanly document the story of a team in an unrelenting drive for consistency on the pitch and a drive to always aim for 'one step better'.

The viewer will follow the team through an immense high as they overcome a strong Ulster side with a five-try win at the Aviva Stadium in the United Rugby Championship followed by a crippling low of their European Champions Cup top 16 exit.

The viewer is left with a feeling of hope, pride and respect for Connacht’s fortitude and the players who above all else are relentless in pushing themselves to be better.

Giving wings to people and ideas, Red Bull is official energy drinks partner to Connacht Rugby.
