Western Development Commission appointment for Ballaghaderreen native

THE Western Development Commission has appointed Mary Duffy, a native of Ballaghaderreen, as its new financial controller.

This is a new role for the WDC which has a wide portfolio including the €78m Western Investment Fund, the National Hub Network Connected Hubs, European funding for projects across the region and others.

After an extensive recruitment process Mary has taken up the role and will work from the WDC office in Ballaghaderreen.

Mary is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland having completed her accountancy training with PricewaterhouseCoopers. During her career to date, she has gained vast experience working in a number of finance roles in professional services and commercial industries.

Prior to joining the Western Development Commission, Mary held the role of chief operating officer in a global technology company headquartered in Dublin.

Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I feel very fortunate to be returning to work in the place where I grew up in the west of Ireland. I am delighted to be joining the Western Development Commission and being part of an organisation that plays such a key role in providing economic supports to businesses and communities as well as informing and promoting government policy to improve the social and economic standards of the western region.”
