Transformation of Mayo town civic space nears completion

Work on the new laneway linking Main Street to the Castle Street car park in Castlebar, along an area known as Bridge Lane, is nearing completion.

Welcoming the news, Councillor Ger Deere said the location has been transformed into a civic space where events and markets can take place.

He stated: "It is great to see two new businesses opening in that area, a doctor’s surgery and a pharmacy.

"These works are part of the urban greenway project that links Lough Lannagh to the National Museum of Country Life in Turlough - with extra bike racks put in place to accommodate cyclists.

"Great credit goes to the contractors Kieran McTigue and the staff of Mayo County Council for these works," added Councillor Deere.
