Mayo town centre pub and restaurant to reopen after long closure

Bosh Bar and Restaurant, Linenhall Street, Castlebar, is set to reopen next year under new ownership after being closed for almost five years.

The news represents a great boost to the commercial sector of the county town

The sale by Michael and Mary McDonnell has been confirmed on the website of Sherry Fitzgerald Durcan Auctioneers, Chapel Street, Castlebar.

The McDonnell family had owned and run the business for 14 years before its closure in April 2018 due to spiralling insurance premium costs.

The asking price for the premises was €550,000 - but details in relation to the sale are not being released at this stage.

It is widely speculated locally that it has been purchased by a leading member of the licensed trade in Westport.

A formal announcement is expected to be made in due course.

Some internal works are expected to be carried on the premises which extends to approximately 3,800 square feet over three floors and also has the benefit of a large outdoor beer garden, smoking area, dry store and rear yard.
