Passing of Cathy Flynn is deeply regretted in Mayo
The death has taken place of Catherine (Cathy) Flynn, (née Doherty), Creeragh, Castlebar, and formerly of Derrintogher, Ballyhaunis.
Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary (née Heneghan) and sister Bridie Dillon, she will be sadly missed by her heartbroken husband Pat, sons Tom and David, daughter Katriona, and grandchildren Sadhbh, Donnacha, Roisin and Flynn.
She is also mourned by her son-in-law David and daughters-in-law Sarah and Christine, brothers Stephen and Paddy Joe, sisters Mary Mulgrew and Noreen Regan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
Many tributes have been paid to the deceased on social media, one of which described her as "a pure lady with a heart of gold."
Cathy was very much at the centre of family life, always busy and helping out in every way she could.
She adored her four grandchildren and loved every moment of the time she spent with them.
Cathy was a big fan of bingo and played four or five times a week, making many great friends over the years on the local bingo circuit.
She was a dedicated gardening and enjoyed the sense of achievement that it invariably provided.
In her youth Cathy worked for a number of years in London and it was where she first met her husband Pat before returning home to build a life together.
Her remains will repose in the Kilcoyne Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, on Thursday from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m.
The funeral will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Friday, at 11.45 a.m. for Funeral Mass at 12 noon.
Afterwards Cathy will be laid to rest in the New Cemetery, Newport Road, Castlebar.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
